Route between flowers and resorts. (bike tour app. 40km)
To the North and East of Noordwijk, protected from harsh winds by the dunes, wide carpets of flowers, alternating with lush pastures are spread across the land. When in full bloom between March and May this area is the most colourful in the world.
The bike tour starts just outside Noordwijk aan Zee und leads through mother nature, to the ‘Amsterdamse Waterleiding Duinen. The path zigzags through the dunes and flower nurseries and goes forth to De Ruigenhoek, De Zilk and Hillegom.
You’ll feel the international acceptance of Keukenhof. Apart from the renowned flower park with its millions of flower bulbs we’ll find a castle from the 17th century in whose vicinity many activities are hosted during the year.
We’ll travel further south, again through glorious flower fields, alongside the ‘Panorama Tulipland’ (open from End of March until Mai 2006) to Voorhout. Through meadows in Rijnsberg and the manor Offem we will cycle into the historic city centre. Through the Voorstraat with its ancient lime trees, past the big church (1300) the tour continues through the south side of the village back to our starting point.
